Out of Africa

The film I chose to watch was " Out of Africa". Which is about a woman who moves to africa with her husband to start a dariy. Once she arrives her husband infroms her that he would rather plant coffee. So they plant coffee to start their lively hood in africa. They purchase 1000 acres on an English colony.

One elements of world history that is touched by this film is the WW1. All of the men from the colony go to protect the front. Her husband is one of the men that have to leave. After the war he continues to be distant from her. She learns alot and experinces many adventures throughout the time the men are away.

The film changed the way I thought of women from the time of the war. She is very indepent, but she is unfaithful. On the other hand he is unfaithful as well. She wants badly to go with the men, because she prefers not to be alone. While they are gone she continues the lead the life she wants and accomplishes many things, she incounters many new things.

I thought the was very interesting. It gives you a different veiw of the war. Most of the time you hear stories from a mans point of veiw or of someone that lived on the front lines but this is her inside story. Its about what she had to endure while she was there, and her experinces. It was interesting to see what it was like living in africa in that time period(1913).
